Princess Tea Party: Chocolate Pretzel Rods

This may be the easiest things to make with the best end results!
Chocolate Pretzel Rods are perfect for any occasion and they are so simple.
So I'll show you what I did.

What you need:
pretzel rods, chocolate chips of your choice and some sprinkles

Dump your chocolate chips in a bowl and nuke them for about a minute.  Do it in small increments so you don't burn them!
Next, place a pretzel rod in the bowl, grab a spatula glob a bunch of chocolate on is, leaving a few inches on one end so that you can hold it.

From there, you smear the chocolate all over the pretzel.  If there is excess, I like to twist teh pretzel while I use the spatula to get any off.  Then it leaves a cool, twistly design!

Then grab some parchment paper or anything like that and place them on there.  Then grab your sprinkles and go to town :)  Place them in your freezer for a couple of hours and before your party, take them out and display them however you want!
Crappy pictures of the end result.  I was running around like a headless chicken that I forgot to do that!  but you can see it well enough, right?

Next up, pictures from the party!  I am excited to show you how it all turned out :)
And keep those followers coming!  I will be doing another giveaway when I reach 100 followers!!

PROJECT: craft

This past Saturday I was able to attend PROJECT: craft.
boy do I wish it was every night.
Danyelle and Lindsay did an AMAZING job.
They spared nothing.
Every detail was accounted for.
Jenn hosted it over at Greenies and the atmosphere was perfect.
And of course, I didn't take any pictures of the night since I was busy crafting...or sewing :)
We were spoiled with goodies for the eye and the belly.
We were all given a fun little project to work on, a craft kit, if you will.
YUMMY cookies were made from the Breadman's Wife
There were giveaways and I won a beautiful bag by Harper Road!!
We also got a Creative Mix by the Passionista.  I am loving it.  I bring it with me everywhere.
Freshly Picked supplied everyone with a wallet.
ANd not to mention everyone who came, it was fun to meet some new crafty ladies.
Oh it was the best night ever.
Thank you again ladies!

Princess Tea Party: puff ball decorations

my daughter's 5th birthday party was this past saturday, among other things that was that day:
Relief Society Conference
project: CRAFT
Boy what a day!

but i wanted to showcase the preparations that were made for emma's party.
first off, puff balls to hang from the ceiling :)
now, I know most of you use tissue paper and I have in the past.  But I didn't want to deal with cutting the tissue paper  and blah blah blah...it was pretty much just being lazy.
So I had a thought..napkins!  They came in a pack of 20 from the dollar tree.
I came home and tested it out...and it worked.  So easy and so what I was looking for :)
So grab 5 napkins and some string and come along with me :)

Step 1: open the napkins and stack them in a pile.
Step 2: start folding them in an acordian style

Step 3 : cut string to desired length
Step 4:  Tie in the middle of the napkins.

Step 5: Take the napkins and hold it up like this:
Step 6: start taking one sheet at a time and peeling them back, like this:  Be very delicate so you don't rip the napkins :)
Once you ahve done one side, flip it around and do the other side.

Now flip it upside down and do the other half.
Walla!!  see?  very simple and so adorable.  I made about 20 of these babies and put them strategically on my ceiling...ok, fine.  I just threw them up randomly before my guests arrived!

Princess Tea Party: cake stand Tut.

In gearing up for my daughter's party this Saturday, i've been busy getting things ready for it.
And I decided to make some cake stands as a cute way to display and hold the food :)

So the best thing to do is hit your local thrift store or Goodwill and grab some plates and vases/candlestick holders.   Each of these was .50 cents!
For visual appeal, grab different sizes of plates and heights of vases.
Make sure yout surfaces are cleaned then dried.

Grab some Epoxy Glue

Apply some glue on the vase part where it will be touching the plate.
Immediately place it on the plate.
One trick in finding the middle of the plate is grab a ruler and draw some lines across the diameter of the plate in two different places.  Where they intersect is the middle :)
Let dry for at least 24 hours.
Here they are in all their glory...well at least until Saturday where they will be used for their full potential...can't wait!
I love how they turned out!  I like the different color combinations you can come up with!

ruffle birthday shirt.

my eldest "baby" will turn 5 tomorrow...WHAT?! When did this happen? A little bittersweet really.
I love this little girl so much and she has grown into such a wonderful little thing. So I wanted to make her something fun to wear tomorrow ALL DAY :)
I saw this from somewhere, and I have no idea where from my journeyings through hundreds of blogs. So if you know, let me know!
But here's the breakdown:
1-grab some scrap fabric, like 4 strips of it, about 1-2 inches wide.
2- do basting stitches down all 4 strips and then gather, ruffle, and bunch :)
3- find a shirt. This one had some stains that I wanted to cover :)
4- place 1 strip across for the top of the "5"
5- place another 1 strip vertically.
6- place the last two strips as the curvy part of the "5". Place pins where needed.

7- take your sewing machine and sew it down. And your done!
Happy Birthday Sweetie :)

good morning.

The best mornings growing up was to a stack of pancakes or waffles.
I LOVE waffles really.
When I was pregnant with my 2nd, I would make them every day for lunch.
They are easing to serve and eat.
Now my 3rd loves them, especially for breakfast.
So to pass this happiness along, here's my favorite recipe for Crisp and Golden Waffles:

1 egg
2 c. flour
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 1/2 c. milk
3 Tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

In medium bowl, beat egg until frothy. Add remaining ingredients; mix until smooth. Add a heaping 1/3 c batter to preheated wafflemaker. Close unit and bake according to your machine. (I say this because it says 5-6 minutes but for my wafflemaker, it's done in 2 minutes) Carefully remove waffle (lightly re-oil the cooking surface if sticking occurs.) Repeat with remaining batter.
Yields 7 waffles.

here's to a good morning!

PS- LOVE the response to the giveaway!  Thank you guys!  Todays the LAST DAY so head on over and grab your chance at the skirt :)
Maybe once I get 100 followers, i'll do another fun thing....hmmm?

best. cookies. ever.

***Don't forget!  Skirt giveaway is still going on.  Hurry and go HERE!  You have until the 16th at midnight :)***

I am starting to have an addiction.
Whenever we are bored around here, I bust out the mixing bowl and we whip up some chocolate chip cookies.
And I can say that I might have found the best chocolate chip cookie recipe.
seriously.
I found it when we lived in Vegas.  My friend Ashley was so nice to share it with her friends.
I tried them and I was hooked!

So I want to pass that knowledge along to you!

Ingredients:
-2 1/4 c. flour
-1 tsp. baking soda
-1 tsp. salt
-1 stick of butter, softened
-4 oz. cream cheese, softened
-3/4 c. sugar
-3/4 packed brown sugar
-1 tsp. vanilla
-2 large eggs
-1 3/4 c. chocolate chips (any kind you'd like...and I usually just dump in a whole bag!)

Step One: Combine flour, baking soda, salt and set aside.
Step Two: Cream together butter, cream cheese, both sugars, and vanilla.  Add eggs one at a time.
Step Three:  Gradually mis in the flour mixture.
Step Four: Stir in Chocolate Chips
Step Five: Prepare baking sheets
Step Six: Sneak some cookie dough....
Step Seven: Form Dough into about a Tablespoon Size Ball & Bake at 375 degrees for 9-11 minutes.  I have found about 9 1/2 - 10 minutes is perfect but you'll figure it out ;)
They are delicious and stay soft for a long time!  Enjoy!
