Diaper Pouch / Holder / Clutch Giveaway :)

So i've been on the down low for a while. First I was sick with being pregnant. Then I moved across country. Then I settled down. Now I wait to have this baby come Tuesday! It's one thing after another. Scrapbooking has been put on the back-burner...I have no motivation for it whatsoever.

But I have gotten into sewing stuff for the baby.
And some friends and I have started another blog where we post up tutorials of things we make:

REALLY easy Diaper pouch tutorial & Giveaway!

I am about to have a baby so i've been bombarded with things I want to get done before he comes...on Tuesday...

So last night, I decided to make a new diaper pouch for #3. I have another one but it's pink. I don't want a pink one for my little boy so I wanted a new boy one.

I found a scrap of fabric that would go perfect for a quick pouch. I wanted it to be simple because I can't sit at the machine for too long. This isn't the highest quality but who cares right? This tutorial is so easy, you could make this in 10 minutes, seriously!

So I found a piece of fabric that measured 7 1/2 inches by 24 inches...a really long rectangle. But if you are starting with new fabric and have a lot of it, I would maybe make it a tad bigger, like 8 1/2 x 27 because it will fit more diapers and a bigger wipes. Again, I was working with scraps here :) (sorry no pic....sewed it before I took a picture!)

Hem one end, about 1/4 of a inch. Then decide where you want it to fold over to make the pouch. Fold over the hemmed edge so that it will be the shorter fold. I folded over 11 inches, so the longer side measured 13 inches. Pin the sides together and sew them shut.

Next, you will have the extra flap from the longer end. Where the two pieces end, cut 1/4 inch to the flap so that you can hem the whole flap around. Sew around the flap.

***Make sure you fold and hem down the right side...meaning the side that will be underneath after this is all said and done. ;)***



Next, turn it all inside out so it's all nice and right. I used heat-bonded velcro. Place velcro where desired and then follow directions to secure it onto the pouch.

Place some diapers in there and you are done!!

See how easy that is? Like I said, it's not the best quality because it doesn't have a lining but does that really matter? It didn't to me yesterday when I made it :)

Wooden Pumpkins & Pecan Wreath

I got the idea for the pumpkins form U create they were really easy to make and they turn out really cute. The wreath idea came to me when I was in Crate and Barrel they had some made out of berries. I had a ton of pecans left over from last season so I decided to use them. The green balls are called horse apples, I picked them when I was in Fort Worth. The real pumpkin came from Love Creek pumpkin patch and Bailey painted it :)

All I did was hot glue the pecans to a styrofoam wreath from the dollar store and put moss/grass in between. It was super fast to make.

For the pumpkins we cut some 2x4 and sanded the edges.

Then we painted them orange, we tried using crackle paint on top but it didn't work. Then we cut leaves out of felt and made stems out of wire. To top it off we added some raffia.

Wood Crafts

So here is what i've been up to the past few weeks. I have had these wood blocks for a while now, waiting to be crafted. I got them almost a year ago from one of our Crafty Clique monthly craft nights. I've had some of these ideas for awhile and some I just recently got and added my own twist to it.
When I was in UT visiting my family, my mom and I painted all of them then she had an electric sander so I took care of that there too. The phrases are all paper that I have modge-podged on there then I added embellies or ribbon.

These pumpkins were fun. THe faces are handcut paper that I modge-podged them on. The stems are dowels that I cut with my mini hacksaw and glued them on with wood glue then the "leaves" are ribbons. This came from ideas from Tip Junkie & Jennie's blog, both awesome inspirations :)

These last two are very similar..which one do you like the best? I can't decide!

I made all this originally for a fair I went to but it ended up being more of a flea market so the audience wasn't right for this so I didn't sell a whole lot. Which deep down am glad because I wanted to keep them for me to decorate for my own house!

THey are way easy to make too! THey are just normal 2x4's from Lowes that are cut up in different sizes...it's all up to you!

Necklace & jewelry Organization Tutorials

I desperately needed something done with my jewelry. I was sick of having them in boxes and getting tangled up.

Then I saw this DIY jewelry organizer.

I was amazed and determined to make that. So I hit all the thrift stores in search of a wooden silverware holder, thinking I would easily find one!

Well no, to my dismay, nothing!

But in my wanderings, I found this:

It got me thinking...I could definitely use this for my organizer!

So first step was taking out the shelving.

They were loose so I secured them with some wood glue.

After they dried, I used my mini jigsaw and cut the shelves to the sizes I want. I turned the whole thing vertical.

Then I painted both pieces white...or my husband did..since i'm 8+ months pregnant :)

Then I measured the spaces for the next steps of modge podging paper on the back.

Nice ;)

Then I had to put back the shelving.

Then I used my drill and make holes and added in cabinent knobs to hold the necklaces

Then I glued a piece of dowel on the back so it would be angled a bit so no piece of jewelry would fall off.

And here you go! Atop of the necklace organizer is my earring organizer.

I had an empty frame and hot glued a large piece of lace that I found from this really cool store...the lace was like 25 cents a yard!

Anyways, lace or even tulle work great to hold earrings!

This has been so nice! The smaller cubbies, I use for rings or stud earrings or bracelets!

It is a great addition to my room :)

Fall Decor

Gourds are perfect decorations for this time of year. I got these from Wal Mart. They are cheep too. The bumpier the better!

David and I picked these pecans last season. I want to gather some acorns too. Take advantage of what grows near your house. I wish the leaves would change colors here, they make beautiful arangments.

A friend and I got Styrofoam balls and and fall scrapbook paper. We tour the paper into strips then mod podged them on the balls.

I just add a Halloween colored bow and some spiders to the wreath that I already had on my door for a little festive touch.

The spiders are made out of black puffballs and pipe cleaners for legs. You can also glue string on them if you want them to hang.

Things I like Journal

I thought this was a cute idea, to do with yourself and your kids when they get older!

It's a journal that you record your favorite things, whether it's by drawing, collaging, writing, scrapping it, whatever!

I got the idea from The Mama Dramalogues. And then I remembered my sister Jenny, did this for one of her english classes in college. It was really cool to see her pages. And what a great flow for creativity!

Barbie Dress Cake Tutorial

My daughter's 4th birthday was yesterday and recently become obsessed with Cinderella. I asked her what cake she wanted. She said, "cinderella cake"...so I googled it and majority of the finds were the barbie doll dress cake...

Most of the had you buy the special kit for it from Wilton's. But I didn't have time!

Luckily, I had dome-shaped pans to use for the dress. Anyways, here's what you need:

-1 box of cake mix, your favorite flavor

-1 can of ready-made icing, preferably white.

-food coloring

-a dome-shaped pan...even a glass pyrex bowl would work too!

-1 doll or barbie. My recommendations is going to the .99 cent store and getting a cheap doll since it's going to get sticky!

-Cake frosting tips & plastic baggie.

-Can of Whip cream

Step one:

Grease pans that you will be using.

Make cake mix and put in pans. If there are "do not fill above line" line, then obey that rule and put reminder of cake mix in a smaller dome pan.

Place in preheated oven, 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Step 2:

Take out of oven and let cool.

Get your barbie and strip her down...pardon the nudity ;)

Step 3:

Once cakes are cool, remove from pans and make sure it looks good stalked on top of one another.

Step 4:

Get 3/4 of the can of icing and put it in a bowl. Get the food coloring and try to get the right shade. I have the gel kind of food coloring and there was blue...but it came to 4 drops of blue and 1 drop of red to get the right shade for the Cinderella dress. But I know online or on the boxes, it can tell you how to get sky blue and stuff. So just follow directions.

Step 5:

Get out your knife and start frosting the cake!

I put a layer of frosting in between the 2 cakes then just started going nuts and putting it everywhere.

Also, where the 2 cakes are put together, there was a empty crevice that I filled in with whip cream from the can, then I just carefully covered it with the blue icing.

Step 6:

Take off doll's legs, so you just have the barbie body and stick her in the cake to her waist. The reason? the legs are too long for most pans, instead of keep piling on more cake, just take the legs off! Plus, the doll was less than a dollar...who cares!

Step 7: Start frosting the bodice of the doll.

Step 8:

Prepare the frosting tip and baggie and Place the 1/4 white frosting in it. I used a thin, circle tip and then drew her sleeves and outlined the white puffs on the dress...and also drew the 4 in front.

Step 9:

Fill in the dress puff with whip cream and also put whip cream aroung the bottom of the dress.

Serve immediately or place in fridge. If placing in fridge, wait to do the whip cream very last, like right before you serve it. It goes weird in there...

And there you go! YUMMY. My daughter loved it and it was kind of fun doing it too! It wasn't hard at all. Anyone can do it!
